What We're Doing
ANA has been a driving force in gathering data from hospitals to make the case for safe nurse staffing plans. ANA identifies and tracks patient outcomes that can be connected to nursing care and nurse staffing.
ANA also is fighting to make safe nurse staffing a reality nationwide through legislation. ANA advocates for The Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act of 2010 (S. 3491/ H.R. 5527) that would hold hospitals accountable for the development and implementation of unit-by-unit staffing plans that ensure appropriate nurse staffing levels for quality patient care.
